1.Acid Reflux

The primary symptoms of gastro esophageal reflux disease, also called acid reflux, are heartburn, acidity, stinging sensation rising from the stomach, a sour taste in the mouth, a need to clear the throat constantly, frequent coughing.

The malfunctioning of the valve between the stomach and the esophagus causes the stomach acids to leak upward. If the condition gets severe, it can harm esophageal lining, and things can get really serious and may lead to esophageal cancel.

Thus it is best for you to take care at the first sign of acid reflux. Change your eating habits, and stay away from smoking, alcohol, caffeine, carbonated drinks, dairy products and tomatoes.

Changing your lifestyle also helps a lot. Do not lie down within 2 hours after eating, and instead of eating a large portion, shift to eating smaller portions throughout the day. Five small meals a day will do the trick for most of the people.

2.Diverticulosis

This is a very peculiar kind of problem that doesn’t show any signs in its mild form. If diverticulosis gets serious, you’ll start developing symptoms such as fever, bloating, gassiness, chills, excruciating pain in lower left abdomen and alternating phases of diarrhea and constipation.

The primary cause of diverticulosis is weakening and buckling of the colon walls. Small bulges are formed, known as diverticula. The real problem arises when the bulges get infected or burst, and send the fecal bacteria into the stomach.

The primary preventive measure for diverticulosis is following a high fiber diet, and including psyllium huskin your daily routine makes a lot of difference.

3.IrritableBowel Syndrome (IBS)

The symptoms of IBS keep varying. They range from alternating phases of prolonged constipation followed by sudden diarrhea, gas, stomach cramps and feeling full throughout the day. Even after going to the washroom, you feel like you didn’t relieve yourself properly. Your life starts revolving around bathrooms.

The primary cause of IBS is malfunctioning of the intestinal muscles. Stress is another contributor in this disease.

While doctors didn’t take IBS seriously earlier and dismissed the symptoms, now they suggest IBS patients to track their eating habits and stay clear from coleslaw, beans, bran, caffeine, high fructose foods and other foods that can cause IBS. Talk to your physician to check what foods you should not eat. Above all: quit drinking and smoking as soon as possible.
